Guide To Getting an E-Visa For India



Visitors to India can either obtain an E -Visa or Tourist Visa to travel to India. e-Visa is a double entry visa and is valid for a duration of 60 days. The government introduced made many changes to the e-Visa scheme. Now, this visa is available to citizens of around 165 nationalities. ( See here )

Procedure to obtain e-Visa

  1. Initially, the application has to be made at this website: In the application form you will need to fill out personal details and the application is sent for processing.

  2. You will receive an application id and ETA will be sent to you within 3 to 5 days. (You can check application status here)

  3. You will need to present a copy of the ETA when you arrive at the airport.  An immigration officer will stamp your passport with an e-Visa.

  4. Indian e-Visa comes with a cost. It may vary from country to country. ( See price list )

  5. The e-Visa is not valid for entry to the restricted areas. Special inner line permits are required for visiting border areas. ( Read about permits required for north-east India )



Singapore Visa For Indian Citizens




Singapore

There is no facility for Visa on Arrival for Indian nationals. Therefore, an electronic visa (e-Visa) is mandatory for entering Singapore. The procedure for e-Visa is easy and an e-Visa can be acquired in 3 days of application.

Singapore e-Visa for Indian nationals

The process for Singapore e-Visa has to be carried out through a certified agent in India.

Requirements For Applying a Singapore e-Visa

  1. A completely signed form 14A (Available at the Singapore Government website)

  2. A passport that has a validity of 6 months from the date of travel

  3. Two recently taken passport sized photo taken within the last 3 months ( See photo guidelines before application)

  4. A cover letter that states visit purpose along with total days an applicant wants to stay in Singapore

  5. A copy of hotel accommodation in Singapore

  6. A copy of confirmed flight tickets for onward and return journey

  7. A copy of Bank statements for 6 months

Procedure To Apply For An Electronic Visa For Indians

As soon as the applicant is ready with all the documents he/she is eligible to apply for e-Visa. Just choose an agent of our choice so that he can carry the process smoothly.

The Visa processing fee is around 30 SGD  per application. The agent may also charge a small fee for each application.

The agent checks all the documents and submits it to the High Commission of Singapore on the applicant’s behalf. After 3-5 days all the documents are returned to the applicant via courier.

The good thing about the Singapore Visa is that it is a multiple entry visa with a long term validity (1 year or more which decided by the consulate officer). However, the applicant can only stay for 30 days each time he/she visits Singapore.

Both Laos and Cambodia gives visa on arrival for Indian Citizens.

 

Cambodia Visa On Arrival

The Cambodian Visa on arrival can be obtained at one of the 3 airports

  1. Phnom Penh International Airport

  2. Siem Reap International Airport

  3. Sihanoukville International Airport

or the Visa on arrival can be obtained by road ( if traveling through Thailand or Vietnam )

Documents Needed For Visa on Arrival To Cambodia

  1. Original passport validity 6 months 

  2. Recently taken photograph 4 cm by 6 cm

  3. Copy of returned flight ticket  Note: While traveling by road if you have a visa for Thailand or Vietnam you can get a visa on arrival in Cambodia.

  4. Copy of hotel accommodations

  5. Bank statements last 3 months or around $500 in cash

Cambodia Visa can be extended by 30 days upon arrival.

Laos Visa On Arrival

Visa on arrival to Laos can be obtained in the following airports

  • Wattay International Airport

  • Luang Prabang International Airport 

  • Pakse International Airport

  • Savannakhet International Airport 

Documents Needed For Visa on Arrival To Laos   

  1. Original passport validity 6 months 

  2. Recently taken photograph 4 cm by 6 cm

  3. Copy of returned flight ticket  Note: While traveling by road if you have a visa for Thailand you can get a visa on arrival in Laos.

  4. Copy of hotel accommodations

  5. Bank statements last 3 months or around $500 in cash

Laos visa can be extended for 30 days at Vientiane

Myanmar Visa for Indian Citizens

Indian citizens get a 28-day visa to Myanmar. Indians can apply for online for an eVisa. Once the Visa is applied it is processed and sent by email in less than 24 hours.

Once it is received carry the printout of the Visa along with documents like passport, photographs, tickets, bookings, bank statements, etc. to get stamped at the port of entry ( Yangon, Mandalay or Nap Pyi Taw International airport).




Bhutan and Nepal Travel For Indian Citizens




Indian citizens traveling to Bhutan need to carry the following travel documents.

  1. Indian Passport  (Minimum validity of 6 months)

  2. Voter Card  ( Given by the Election Commission )

Traveling to Bhutan By Road

Indians traveling to Bhutan by road need to obtain a permit at the  Immigration office at Phuentsholing. 

Traveling To Bhutan By Air

Indians traveling to Bhutan by air must obtain Entry Permit at the Paro International Airport on the basis of any of the travel documents mentioned above. However, the entry permit is limited for travel to Paro and Thimphu only. If you want to travel to other places you have to get a special permit at Thimphu. ( Air Ticket Booking )

Climate 

The winter season (November to March) is quite cold with temperatures dropping below 10 degrees. The summers (April -June are beautiful and one should try to visit during this season. One should avoid visiting Bhutan from July to September as it is the rainy season.
