Just the aroma of Thai food makes me hungry. From San Francisco to Singapore, its combination of exotic flavors and fragrances makes it one of the favorite cuisines. If you dig deep into the Thai cuisine you will find that Thai food is a combination of all flavors sweet, sour, bitter and hot taste. Also, the use of herbs and spices brings a unique flavor to Thai cuisine. 

One of the unique techniques used in preparing Thai food is the pounding of herbs instead of chopping them. And that makes the aroma go into the food. Thai food encompasses various kinds of dishes including salads, soups, rice, noodles to name a few. Here are some of the Thai food delicacies that in the list of our top 10 Thai food.

Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Thai Soup With Shrimp)

Tom Yum Goong is a colorful blend of fragrant lemongrass, galangal, chili, lime, shallots, sauce mixed with succulent fresh prawns and mushrooms. The mixture forms the ingredients of the famous soup. The taste of the soup is exotic and if you want to get a better taste just eat in a small bowl. 

Som Tum (Spicy Green Papaya Salad)

Som Tum is another dish which is unique to Thailand. The dish is originally from Isaan, north-eastern Thailand. Garlic, chilies, raw papaya, tomatoes are mixed to form a sweet-sour-spicy flavor.

The green papaya salad has either dried shrimp or salted crab. Green papaya salad mixed with dried shrimp is called som tum Thai and green papaya salad with salted crab is called som tum pbooh. Green papaya salad is made with clay mortar, a wooden pestle, and spatula.

The green curry is an amazing mixture of a handful of ingredients. In addition to green curry paste which gives it’s a green color, the dish is actually a mixture of meat, eggplants, bamboo shoots, coriander, and basil leaves. This dish tastes best when served along with a bowl of fresh Thai rice.

Massaman Curry

This curry has a bit of Indian flavor. Therefore, I order this dish in a Thai restaurant whenever I feel having some Indian food. This dish is a combination of many ingredients. This incredible curry is formed by mixing meat, potatoes, coconut milk, cardamom, lime and bay leaves.

Kai Med Ma Muang 

As the name sounds this dish has got cashew nuts in it. This dish is a combination of many ingredients. For example, roasted cashews, sweet soy sauce, onions, chilies, pepper, carrots, etc are mixed with meat to give its unique flavor.

Khao Pad (Fried Rice)

This dish is one of my favorite dishes. This dish is prepared by mixing fried rice, egg, onion, and a few herbs. Often it is served with a slice of lime and few slices of cucumber. 

Pad Thai (Thai Style Fried Noodles)

This dish is a delicious mix of flat Thai noodles tossed with onions, bean sprouts, tamarind, garlic, egg, etc. gives this dish a different flavor. I like rice more than noodles. Therefore,  I can only have this dish once in a while.

Khao Soi (Northern Thai Noodles With Curry)

This dish is unique to Northern Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. This is mainly composed of noodles, meat, coconut milk, and condiments.

Khanom Krok (Coconut Dessert)

This dish is made by mixing rice flour, sugar, coconut milk to form a dough.  This dough is then fried in a unique way to give this hot dessert a tasty flavor. Mostly, if you visit rural Thailand you will see street side vendors making this dish.
